Alvin E. Grimont

 

     Alvin E. Grimont, 82, passed way on Dec. 24, 2008. He was born in Peekskill on Feb. 26, 1926 to the late Alvin and Marguerite (See) Grimont.

     He worked for Puckley Well-Drilling, Peekskill for 33 years, and 10 years with the Local #235 Union Laborers. Alvin served with the United States Marines from 1944-1946, serving in Iwo Jima and the Pacific Theatre.

     He was a life member of the Mohegan Lake Fire Department (1942-2008); the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association with 47 years; the Peekskill Elks Lodge #744; and was a member of the Garrison Rod and Gun Club; and also the Town of Cortlandt Veterans Council. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; he loved to read, gardening and a huge NY Jets fan.

     Alvin is survived by his wife of 61 years Elsie (nee Williams) Grimont, and his daughter Janice & William Laughlin; and 3 grandchildren: Justin, Amber and Kayleigh Laughlin; and his beloved cocker spaniel "Ginger".

     The Family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 26th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held 10am, Saturday, Dec. 27th, followed by interment in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley.
