James Houston

 

     James Houston, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away December 25th. He was born in Yonkers, NY, September 12, 1920. Loving husband of Alma Houston, and devoted father of Bruce H. Houston of Myrtle Beach and Alan J. Houston of Wingdale, NY. Grandfather of James and April Houston.

     Member of the First Reformed Church of Hastings-on-Hudson, chairman of Troop 2 Boy Scouts of America, Ex-Captain of Uniontown Hose Company and member of the Ambulance Corp. Member and Past Treasurer of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association with 45 years of service, Veteran of WWII and served in the European theater.

     He attended Saunders Trade School in Yonkers and NYU School of Engineering. Worked as an experimental engineer in Alexander Smith and Sons Carpet Company and was manager of plant maintenance at Thermo-Electric in New Jersey until retirement.
