Nicholas Dominic Macri, Sr. loving husband, cherished father, grandfather and great grandfather on December 31, 2010. He was 88. Mr. Macri was born in 1922 in Dobbs Ferry. Son of Giacomo and Mary Grace (Barbieri) Macri. He attended Ardsley Schools where he participated in varsity sports, and was on the Westchester County Championship Basketball Team. After graduating he was drafted in the US Army. He served as a Platoon Sgt for 323 Regiment of the 81st Infantry Co. M (The Wildcat Division). His tour included: Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Tulage, Peleliu, Angaur and the Philippines. In 1946, Mr. Macri returned to Dobbs Ferry and was employed by the Village of Scarsdale for more than 40 years retiring as Superintendent of Water. In 1948, Mr. Macri married Fannie D'Angelo.      He was a life member of the Ardsley Vol. Fire Dept., and was Fire Chief from 1956-58. Among his proudest achievements was helping to establish the Ardsley Little League Org. He was a 65 year member Ardsley American Legion Post 458; Ardsley Historical Society and a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Mr. Macri was an avid outdoorsman; spending much of his retirement in the Adirondacks fishing and hunting. His true legacy remains in his family and those who were touched by his unshakable faith, his strong values and integrity and his warm smile. In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, he is survived by three daughters; Barbara Taylor (Henry M. Taylor), Lois Macri, and Sue Ann Hennessy (Bert Hennessy); and three sons; James, Kenneth (Gail), and Nicholas, Jr. (Catherine); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Clare Dalmas and Theresa Leuzzi.      Visiting Sun 7-9 and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
