Robert L. Perry, 85, of Yorktown, a retired Yorktown Highway Department worker, died on May 28, 2009 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco. The only son of the late Louis and Mary Perry, he was born in Manchester, VT, but resided in Yorktown for over eighty years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown. He is survived by his wife Sue Perry; two daughters, Suzanne De Souza of Crompond, NY and Michele De Giglio and husband Peter of Washingtonville, NY; five grandchildren: Peter, Joseph and Michael De Giglio, Kathy McGuiness and Chrissy Kavcic; and five great grandchildren: Robert, Thomas, Christopher, Caleb and Giovanni. There are two more great grandchildren on the way. He is also survived by many other loving family members and hundreds of friends. Robert was a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific theatre. A member of the First Calvary Division, the heavy armored division of the United States Army, he was awarded America's third highest military honor, the Silver Star, for gallantry in action. A true hero, he was the most decorated veteran of VFW Post 8328 in Yorktown. Robert was a member of the Yorktown Fire Department for over 60 years, as well as a member of the American Legion and the Elks. He was also a 48 year Life Member of WCVFA. Robert was a passionate golfer. He also enjoyed bowling and was a big time Met and Giants fan. Calling hours are Monday and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9, at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. The Funeral Mass is Wednesday at 10:00 AM at New St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
